Last year, the North Vancouver Chamber recommended the Provincial Government reduce barriers to bike and e-bike adoption as a mode of workforce transportation, and for the Scrap-it rebate to be increased. Our recommendation was adopted unanimously at the BC Chamber AGM and included in the BC Chamber book of recommendations to the province. We’re pleased to see the provincial government’s announcement this summer to increase e-bike rebates for individuals and businesses to help make electric-powered bikes more affordable and accessible, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This is the second recent North Vancouver Chamber policy win following the successful funding of a study looking at the economic impact of fixed link transit across the Burrard inlet. Both of these support the number one economic issue facing the north shore – improving transportation options and helping get employees to work.
