WAVE 98.3 delivered the Smooth Grooves of Summer at The Shipyards in July. The free concert put up-and-coming young talent in the spotlight.

Two summers ago, WAVE 98.3 FM arrived on our shores with a promise to provide music and entertainment tailored toward the local lifestyle.

Delivering a delightful mix of smooth jazz, R&B, and adult contemporary hits, The WAVE is the perfect North Shore soundtrack.

On-air personalities, including Tara Jean Stevens, a captivating storyteller with an infectious energy, and legendary local broadcaster Stirling Faux, lift spirits, create laughter, and provide companionship to listeners.

But The WAVE’s impact reaches beyond the airwaves.

Radio station staff quickly embraced our community, fostered connections, and put their resources into amplifying local talent in meaningful ways.

“We love the North Shore! It’s a vibrant community with longtime residents, newcomers, and all kinds of businesses from startups to distilleries and breweries, along with a vibrant small business community and major industries like Seaspan,” says Phil Evans, Operations Manager, WAVE 98.3 FM. “We are committed to supporting North Shore initiatives.”

In the community

The WAVE carries a cool vibe and community spirit from Capilano University to The Shipyards to the Ambleside waterfront, spotlighting local artists and initiatives along the way.

In the summertime, you will find The WAVE family at the Friday Shipyards Night Market and the Harmony Arts Festival.

“By 10 o’clock at night The Shipyards Commons was packed with people dancing,” recalls Evans.

Each artist also received a $2,500 prize.

This Christmas season The WAVE returns to The Shipyards, as sponsors of the inaugural Shipyards Christmas Market and purveyors of festive entertainment featuring Canadian talent.

Throughout the year, The WAVE shares a vibrant symbiosis with The BlueShore at CapU and supports the theatre with funding and promotion for its live programming.

The WAVE is dedicated to providing a platform for Canadian talent to shine, including Juno-award winning artist and Handsworth Secondary grad Laila Biali. Listen to The WAVE’s interview with Laila.

Power of the airwaves

It’s been said that radio has a way of romancing the audience and a special ability to forge an emotional connection.

“For me, it’s about the effect you can have on people, whether it’s the audience or the advertiser or the people you work with,” says Evans, who is an industry veteran. “You know you’re having an effect on people’s lives for the better and you know that you’re delivering results for advertisers.”

“With WAVE’s promotional power behind us, we drew the largest crowds ever this year. Thank you, again,” says Nancy Lanthier, BlueShore at CapU Marketing and Communications Specialist.

Want to reach a new audience? Have an advertising goal? The WAVE’S creative team can collaborate with you to create a successful campaign.

WAVEBus“They are advisors on how to use your message with this product, and they do everything from massive multi-thousand-dollar campaigns to mom-and-pop campaigns,” explains Evans. “Our bailiwick is that we’re a very reasonable advertising opportunity with a unique product.”

The WAVE has preferred advertising rates for North Shore businesses and is also offering a discount to North Vancouver Chamber members.

“Hey, let’s get creative. Let’s think outside of the box!” says Evans.
