NV Chamber survey reveals tax relief, housing, & transit as top provincial election priorities

(NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.) October 10, 2024 — The North Vancouver Chamber is pleased to release the results of our recent provincial pre-election survey and the top priorities of our business community.

Through our survey, we received insights from small, medium, and large-sized businesses and sectors, reflecting the broad spectrum of North Vancouver’s economic landscape. These insights were instrumental in shaping the questions we posed to election candidates and will guide our ongoing advocacy efforts.

Notably, 92% of all respondents identified Business and Personal Taxes as very important or important issues, while 81% expressed concern about government regulation and red tape, underscoring the universal impact these issues have across various industries.

It comes as no surprise to us that Affordable Housing, Finding Skilled Staff, and Investment in Public Transit continue to be identified as important and interconnected economic issues within the North Vancouver business community.

Our survey results also revealed unique priorities among different segments of the business community. Small businesses specifically highlighted Primary Health Care as a vital issue, while larger businesses emphasized the need for Accessible Skills Training. These priorities reflect the diverse challenges faced by businesses of varying sizes and sectors.

“We are proud to take the lead by listening and voicing the key issues facing our business community,” said North Vancouver Chamber CEO Patrick Stafford-Smith. “By presenting a unified voice on these important issues, we can ensure that our concerns are heard by the provincial election candidates.”

We provided an important opportunity for our business community to talk one-on-one with local candidates at our Provincial Pre-election Mixer on October 8 at Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre.

As we approach the provincial election on October 19, 2024, we encourage everyone in our community to review the responses from our Meet Your Candidates Q&A regarding key issues.
